Southern Comfort was born in 1874, in the French Quarter of New Orleans, contributing to the myth of a vibrant and mysterious city, one of the southernmost in the United States (this is the meaning of the adjective “Southern”); the invention was made by the barman at the "Tavern McCauley", who was trying to give his customers a less harsh whisky, for a more pleasant drink, namely "Comfort". The recipe is based on whiskey, sweetened with orange, vanilla and cinnamon, which give a sweet and spicy flavor.
