Product details
Il Bruciato is one of the most iconic and famous wines from the Guado al Tasso winery, owned by the legendary Antinori family. It is a red wine from the prestigious Tuscan area of Bolgheri, made from a blend of French grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Syrah, which reach very high levels of quality in these lands. The name comes from a forest that was completely burned down in the 18th century by the local inhabitants as a sign of protest against the noble Della Gherardesca family, who were lords of Bolgheri at the time and forbade farmers from hunting within it.
This Bolgheri Il Bruciato is produced annually at the Antinori family's Guado al Tasso Estate, located about 80 km south-west of Florence, on the gentle green hills surrounding the ancient village, in a territory with a unique microclimate that offers good temperature fluctuations between day and night, allowing the grapes to reach perfect ripeness. The wine "Il Bruciato" is the breath of the wind, the strength of the earth, and the passion of man, demonstrating how these hills generate visual and gustatory emotions. The selected grapes are brought to the winery where they are destemmed and softly pressed. This is followed by fermentation and maceration on the skins in stainless steel at controlled temperatures for about 10-15 days. A portion of the Merlot and Syrah is fermented at lower temperatures to preserve varietal aromas and typical flavors. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel and finishes in barriques. At the end of this phase, the wines are blended and will age in barriques for several months, before being bottled and refined in glass for another 4 months.
Il Bruciato Antinori embodies, with the innate elegance due to its noble origins, the soul of an ancient terroir. The softness of the breeze's scent, which caresses Bolgheri and its hills, dresses in the glass with an intense ruby red and releases a whirlwind of sensations of small red fruits, like cherry and blackberry, intertwined with nuances of sweet spices, accumulated during its time in wood. On the palate, elegance, softness, and balance are the cornerstones of a full, rich sip with a pleasing embrace. A seductive red wine, capable of gracefully and elegantly conveying the aromas of a story made of refinement and success.
