The history of this very famous bitter dates back to 1885, when Stanislao Cobianchi decided to open a small liqueur company in Bologna, going against the wishes of his family who wanted him devoted to an ecclesiastical career. Deep knowledge ofaromatic herbs , Stanislao decided to create an innovative product, destined to become the house specialty, and which was accessible to everyone. He decided to call it Montenegro, in honor ofPrincess of Montenegro , Elena Petrovich, future Queen of Italy. The sinuous shape of the bottle did the rest and, in a short time, this bitter achieved enormous diffusion and today represents a consolidated name, despite 120 years of distance.
